Here’s an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an exciting initiative from the Rotary Club of Greater Geraldton.
The club is heavily involved with Bicycles for Humanity and club member Peter Moore has been actively refurbishing bikes with his band of helpers in his Geraldton backyard for many years. Last year, the club sponsored a container-load of 150 bikes to East Timor, contacting the Rotary Club of Dili for assistance.
With its help, the container was taken to a remote location and while the bikes have been distributed, the container serves as a workshop for repairing bicycles. The club also sent up many tools and spares.
The club will pay the various transport costs again this year as another container has been bought at a reduced cost of $2500.
Here’s the challenge. Is your club willing to assist us by paying for the container?
This is an opportunity to be involved in a vital service for our nearest neighbour.
Please contact President Hugh Lavery by email or telephone 0419-045-203.

Come and join in the fun.

Join RMBWA for an enjoyable evening of networking, fellowship and knowledge sharing with guest speaker Tony Seabrook, President - Pastoralists & Graziers Association of WA (PGA WA).
Tony will present on the social and government policy challenges facing the agricultural sector in Western Australia. Given the recent “Keep the Sheep” campaign and the undeniable need for farmers, food and a healthy agriculture industry, this promises to be an insightful event.
Maternal and Newborn Child Mental Health project update
After in-depth interviews with around 15 global experts in maternal and infant mental health (at a world paediatric convention in Finland, part one of this project), the second phase where Rotary starts to get involved will begin.
Interview data will be coded and analysed with qualitative research assistance, a report produced and an article for publication drafted. Fundraising for that specialised skill-set is in progress. Rotarians, clubs or others willing to help can contact project manager Kay Durrant at Karrinyup, or Warwick Smith your ARH WA team chair.
Meanwhile Rotarians can also help by spreading awareness of this initiative.
We invite Rotarians with relevant vocational skills and child health/health promotion experience (or simply interested in Rotary service in this area), and especially clubs in localities where existing Mother-Baby Nurture groups exist, to participate.
If you are interested, and for more information, please contact us very soon.
June marks an important time for all of us as we recognize Alzheimer's and the significant impact it has on individuals, families, and communities.
At the Alzheimer's / Dementia Rotary Action Group (ADRAG), we are dedicated to raising awareness, providing support, and fostering hope for those affected by these challenging conditions.
Our mission at ADRAG is not just to bring attention to Alzheimer's but to mobilize action and resources that can lead to meaningful change. This month, we call upon you to join us in our efforts by supporting the initiatives and programs that ADRAG champions.
Additionally, members can take an active role by organizing fundraising activities. By filling out the ADRAG fundraising request form, we provide the tools and resources needed to run various fundraising events on behalf of ADRAG. Creativity and dedication can make a significant impact in raising funds and awareness.
Another powerful way to make a difference is by participating in a Community Benefit Business Network (CBBN). The concept of the CBBN echoes the very principles upon which Rotary was founded. When Paul Harris established Rotary in 1905, his vision was to create a network of professionals who could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lasting friendships while making a positive impact on their communities. The Community Benefit Business Networks we are developing today are a modern extension of this vision, fostering collaboration between businesses and Rotary to drive community support and development.
CBBNs are innovative business networks being established by Rotary Districts nationwide. These networks involve local businesses that commit to contributing a portion of the proceeds from their products and services to causes supported by Rotarians, such as ADRAG. By doing so, they create a sustainable flow of funds that can significantly bolster our efforts to combat Alzheimer's and dementia.
We are excited to announce that ADRAG is actively seeking to collaborate with Districts to set up CBBNs in their areas. Through our partnership with Our Mayberry, the platform driving these networks, we aim to create robust, community-focused initiatives that leverage local business contributions to support our cause.
Warm regards,
Bill Shillito
Chairman, ADRAG

Treemission is a Rotary tree planting program that has goals of informing Rotarians about what is happening in the environment, what they can do about it and deliver tree planting activities.
2024 Treemission tree planting event
This is the project and location:
Exciting times ahead in 2024 for treemission as we move to support restoration work on the Wungong River near Armadale. The State government has provided significant funding to ensure the Wungong River becomes a healthy river corridor for local wildlife, and for us to enjoy into the future.
Treemission has linked again with SERCUL this time to rehabilitate the river course. Matt Barbour, with SERCUL, will lead us for two days in July (20th and 21st) to plant a target of 3,000 plants per day (at least).
Each day starts at 0900hrs with a briefing, then morning tea at 1000hrs and a sausage sizzle at 1230.
Matt will provide planting equipment and plants (but I suggest you bring your favourite gloves and trowel), and Treemission and our Rotarians will cater for morning tea and a sausage sizzle.
You will need to bring personal items such as sunscreen, hats, boots, water and any other items you might think you will need including a chair? There are toilets located nearby at the shopping centre.
